Privacy Policy

This page explains what we collect, what connecting a social account allows us to do, and the risks that come with it. You are asked to agree to it before you create an account.

The short version

  • We store your name, email, a scrambled (hashed) copy of your password, the posts you create and the images you upload.
  • When you connect a social account, we store an access token that lets us publish to that account for you. We never see or store your password for that platform.
  • Anyone who obtained an access token could post to that account until you revoke it. You can revoke it at any time, here or on the platform itself.
  • Images you upload are placed at a public web address, because platforms such as Instagram can only fetch pictures from a public address.
  • We do not sell your data, show ads, or use tracking or analytics cookies.
  • We depend on Meta, LinkedIn and TikTok. They can limit or withdraw our access at any time, which can stop a feature from working.

1. Who we are

SocialConnector.net ("we", "us") is a tool for writing a post once and publishing it to the social accounts you connect. This policy explains what personal data we handle when you use the website and dashboard at socialconnector.net, and what you are agreeing to when you create an account.

You can reach us about anything in this policy at queries@socialconnector.net.

2. What we collect

Your account

  • Your name and email address.
  • Your password, stored only as a salted hash (scrypt). We cannot read your password and nobody at SocialConnector.net can tell you what it is.
  • The date you created the account, and the date and version of this policy you agreed to.

Social accounts you connect

You connect an account by clicking Connect and approving the request on that platform's own website. The platform then gives us an access token and some basic profile details. We store:

  • Instagram: account ID, username, display name, follower count, following count, number of posts, the address of your profile picture, and an access token.
  • Facebook: for the Page you publish to, its ID, name, username, follower count and picture, plus an access token for that Page and one for your profile. The profile token lets us list the Pages you chose to share so you can switch between them.
  • LinkedIn: member ID, name, profile picture, and an access token.
  • TikTok: account ID, display name, avatar, and an access token.

Your content

  • The text of posts you write, the platforms you chose, and the time you scheduled them for.
  • Images you upload.
  • The result of each publish attempt: whether it worked, the link to the published post, or the error message the platform returned.
  • Text you type into the AI features (see section 6).

Technical data

  • Our web server keeps standard logs of requests, which include your IP address, browser type and the pages requested.
  • Cookies and browser storage, listed in section 8.

3. How we use it

  • To sign you in and keep your account secure.
  • To publish the posts you create, immediately or at the time you scheduled, to the accounts you chose.
  • To show you the connected account's name, picture and follower numbers in your dashboard.
  • To send you a password reset email when you ask for one.
  • To find and fix problems with the service.

We do not sell your personal data, we do not show advertising, and we do not use your posts or images to train AI models.

4. What connecting an account allows us to do

We ask each platform only for the permissions needed to publish for you:

  • Instagram: read your basic profile information and publish content to your account. This requires an Instagram professional account (Creator or Business).
  • Facebook: see the Pages you manage (including Pages owned by a business portfolio), read their basic engagement numbers, and create posts on the Page you select.
  • LinkedIn: read your basic profile and create posts as you.
  • TikTok: read your basic profile and upload and publish videos to your account.

We publish only when you tell us to, either with Publish now or by scheduling a post. We do not read your private messages.

5. Risks you should know about

We want you to understand these before you connect an account.

Access tokens are stored on our server

To publish scheduled posts while you are away, we keep each platform's access token in our database. A token is not your password, but anyone who obtained it could post to that account, within the permissions listed in section 4, until the token expires or you revoke it. If our server were ever breached, tokens could be misused in this way. Instagram tokens last about 60 days and are renewed while you keep using the service.

You stay in control of every token:

  • Click Disconnect on the Integrations page. This deletes the token and the profile details from our system straight away.
  • Remove SocialConnector.net in the platform's own settings. This cancels the token at the source, so it stops working even if a copy still existed. On Instagram this is under Settings, then Apps and websites. On Facebook it is under Settings, then Business integrations.
  • Changing your password on a platform also cancels its tokens in most cases.

Uploaded images are publicly reachable

Platforms such as Instagram can only fetch a picture from a public web address. For that reason every image you upload is stored at a public address, on our server or with our image hosting provider. The address is long and random and is not listed anywhere, but anyone who has the link can open the image. Only upload images you are prepared to publish.

We depend on the platforms

Publishing works through access that Meta (Instagram and Facebook), LinkedIn and TikTok grant to us. They can change, limit or withdraw that access at any time, which may stop a feature from working, sometimes without notice. Your use of each platform is still governed by that platform's own terms and policies, and you remain responsible for the content you publish through us.

Published posts live on the platform

Once a post is published, it is held by the platform and is visible according to your settings there. Deleting a post or your account here does not remove what has already been published. To remove it, delete it on the platform.

No system is perfectly secure

We serve the site only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), hash passwords, and restrict access to our server. Even so, we cannot guarantee that data will never be accessed without permission. If we learn of a breach that affects your account, we will tell you by email.

6. Who we share data with

We share data only with the services needed to run SocialConnector.net:

  • Meta Platforms (Instagram and Facebook), LinkedIn and TikTok: the text and images of a post, when you publish it to that platform.
  • Anthropic:the text you send to the AI features (for example a caption you ask the AI to rewrite, or a message to the assistant) is sent to Anthropic's Claude service to produce the reply.
  • ImgBB: when image hosting is enabled, uploaded images are stored with this image hosting service so the platforms can fetch them.
  • Contabo: the company that hosts our server.
  • Hostinger: the email service that delivers password reset messages.

These companies may process data in countries other than your own. We may also disclose data when the law requires it.

7. How long we keep it

  • Account details: until your account is deleted.
  • Connected account details and tokens: until you click Disconnect or your account is deleted.
  • Posts, scheduled posts and publish results: until you delete them or your account is deleted.
  • Uploaded images: until you ask us to remove them or your account is deleted.

8. Cookies and browser storage

We use only what is needed for the site to work:

  • A sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in for up to 30 days.
  • Short-lived cookies (10 minutes) while you connect a social account, which protect the connection request from being hijacked.
  • Your light or dark theme choice, saved in your browser.

We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.

9. Your choices and rights

  • You can disconnect any social account at any time on the Integrations page.
  • You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
  • You can ask us to delete your account and data (see section 10).

Depending on where you live, the law may give you further rights, such as objecting to certain uses of your data or complaining to your local data protection authority. To use any of these rights, email queries@socialconnector.net from the address on your account.

10. Deleting your data

To remove one connected account, click Disconnect on the Integrations page. It takes effect immediately.

To delete your whole account:

  1. Send an email to queries@socialconnector.netfrom the address on your account, with the subject "Delete my account".
  2. We delete your account, connected account details and tokens, posts and uploaded images within 30 days and confirm by email.

This does not delete posts already published on a social platform. Remove those on the platform itself, and remove SocialConnector.net from the platform's list of connected apps.

11. Children

SocialConnector.net is for people who are old enough to hold an account on the platforms they connect, and in any case not for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

12. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. If a change significantly affects how we use your data, we will also email the address on your account.

13. Contact

Questions or requests about your data: queries@socialconnector.net.
